You’ve Got NO Mail (grrrr….)

That’s right folks…No sooner had I re-launched Med 2.0, that I should find out that my med20.com email address has been down for the last 3-4 weeks.

Somewhere between switching Domain registrars, blog hosts, and nameservers, the MX Records for my email (Google Apps) got kinda messed up and, though Outlook looked like it was happily sending/receiving email every day, it was actually deceptively doing NOTHING!

So, if you’ve sent email to me at my med20.com email address over the last 3-4 weeks, please do send again.

And if you sent one before then and did not get a reply, I promise I haven’t been ignoring you — my outgoing mail looked like it was being sent as well, but alas, it was actually lost in some cyber-oblivion.

The lesson to be learned here, is that any time you have to re-configure your domain, hosting, and/or webmail services, check and check again (both online and using your mail client) to make sure everything is in order.

Sigh…

Work in Progress

Most of you would probably have noticed that, in addition to re-branding, re-designing, and re-launching this blog, I’ve also switched blogging/hosting platforms.

I’ve finally shed myself of that awful Blogware platform (there were some nice features, but overall, I found it plenty unreliable and plain frustrating) and set up a hosted WordPress blog in its place. Of course, that means I had to configure my webhost (1&1) and, to top it off, I also had to switch domain registrars — I now use GoDaddy and NO, it’s not because of the provocative ads.

Of course, as soon as I did all that, I found out that WP doesn’t preserve all the layout, formatting, and embedded images when you import from the Blogware platform. Also, 1&1 has a lot of finicky admin bits that took a long while to figure out, before having the domains on GoDaddy resolve to the correct URL, etc. Finally, I had to reconfigure feedburner and other such handy-dandy web tools to point to the new domain.

Anyway, what all that means is that in the midst of all the busy-ness of my “real work” and travel schedule, I’m also trying to retrospectively go back and fix a lot of the previous posts (due to the formatting kinks) as well as play around with WP, 1&1, and GoDaddy, to tweak all the little things. Moreover, I am also trying to put a few NEW podcasts together and will probably switch my podcast host from Hipcast to LibSyn (just because I know them personally and they throw EXCELLENT parties at the Podcast Expo :-D ).

So, now that you’re all caught up with what’s going on, you’ll at least understand why there may be slight delays between posts and why you may see changes to the blog every now and then. Look out for much more content (blog AND podcast) coming soon…

R.I.P. ETech@Work — HELLO Med 2.0

HI EVERYONE…I’M BACK AGAIN (FINALLY) !!!

After having almost faded away into corporate oblivion over the last 9 months or so, I’m finally back on the blogging/podcasting scene. So, what have I been up to? Well, let’s see…I’ve run 6 meetings in 5 different states, attended 2 medical conferences, traveled to about three other cities and to Singapore for 2 weeks, attended a drug launch in Vegas, and even attended the 2007 Podcast and New Media Expo (more on that later).

So, the first thing you’ll probably notice, is that I have made some significant changes to the blog/podcast. Specifically, I’ve decided to re-brand, re-design, and re-launch the blog/podcast from ETech@Work to Med 2.0.

2007-10_ET@W-to-Med20

While I will continue to blog/podcast on emerging technologies and trends in general, I realized that the majority of my audience actually exists in the same or related industries that I live in; namely science, medicine, and pharma (and healthcare, of course). So, since it’s what I am most familiar with, I thought it would probably make the most sense if I focused on these specific topics. In addition, I’m also trying to recruit 1 o 2 other folks in the industry to blog/podcast along with me, so that I won’t wear myself too thin and/or take another extended hiatus again.

So, with that, I’m back on the scene and eager to blog/podcast about all the new (and recent) events in the Etech and social media realm, especially with my new focus. Look out for more posts and podcasts shortly…

:-)
